Privacy Policy — China Hotel Helper

Last updated: October 9, 2026

1. Who we are

China Hotel Helper is an independent Chrome extension that provides hotel-area planning guidance for international travelers visiting China. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Trip.com except through the disclosed affiliate relationship described below.

2. Information we collect

China Hotel Helper version 1.5 does not collect personal information through our own servers. The extension does not collect or transmit your name, email address, passport information, payment information, precise location, Trip.com account details, Trip.com booking details, or browsing history.

3. Local storage

To keep your most recent hotel-planning result available when you close and reopen the extension, China Hotel Helper stores the following information locally in your browser using Chrome extension storage:

• Your most recent hotel-planning request.
• Your selected destination and travel type.
• Whether a hotel-planning result was displayed.
• Your most recent trip plan form: the cities, number of nights, places you want to visit, arrival and departure type and time, and the airport or station you selected.

This information stays on your current browser device. It is not transmitted to our servers, Trip.com, an AI provider, or any other third party. You can delete this saved information at any time by selecting Clear saved search or Clear saved trip in the extension. Removing the extension also removes its locally stored data from the browser.

4. How the extension works

The extension uses locally packaged rules to provide hotel-area planning guidance. It does not use an AI API in version 1.5 and does not send your hotel request to an external server for analysis.

The guidance is intended to help you compare areas, transport considerations, booking conditions, and practical check-in factors. It does not provide or guarantee live hotel prices, room availability, hotel ratings, room types, passport-registration acceptance, or other property-specific information.

5. Trip.com affiliate links

China Hotel Helper includes a Trip.com affiliate link. When you explicitly choose to click the Trip.com button, the extension opens Trip.com in a new browser tab using an affiliate link generated through the Trip.com Affiliate Platform.

If you complete an eligible booking after using that link, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. The extension does not automatically open Trip.com, inject affiliate links into webpages, modify Trip.com webpages, or modify the affiliate link generated by the Trip.com Affiliate Platform.

6. Third-party services

When you voluntarily open Trip.com through the extension, Trip.com may collect and process information under its own terms, cookies, and privacy policy. China Hotel Helper does not control Trip.com's data practices. Please review Trip.com's privacy policy and terms before making a booking.

7. Data sharing and sale

We do not sell, rent, share, or transfer personal information because version 1.5 does not collect personal information through our own servers. We do not use your hotel-planning requests for advertising profiles or sell them to advertisers.

8. Security

The extension is designed to minimize data handling. Your saved hotel-planning request and preferences are stored locally in the browser rather than on our servers. However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and you should avoid entering unnecessary sensitive personal information into any browser extension.

9. Children

China Hotel Helper is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law to consent to data processing. The extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the extension changes. If a future version adds features that collect, transmit, store remotely, or share user data, this policy will be updated before those features are released.
